The Molecular Oncology and Immunology (MOI) Graduate program is uniquely situated at the crossroads of Cancer and Immunology to foster the development of basic science scientific discoveries into next generation therapies that can help improve diagnosis and prognosis for patients. The program harnesses the combined expertise of scientists and physicians within the Georgia Cancer Center, and the Immunology Center. This collaborative environment will provide students with unique opportunities to gain insights into understanding the biology of diseases and translational pathways that can improve diagnosis and treatment of cancer and inflammatory diseases.

Students will have an opportunity to be part of highly collaborative scientific teams engaged in unravelling the molecular mechanisms that underlie cancer and inflammatory diseases. In addition, they will have opportunities to explore biological problems from a both a basic science perspective while also engaging with physicians to help translate their findings to alleviate disease burden.

The program is located within the Georgia Cancer Center which has state of the art core services and open lab spaces to foster cross disciplinary collaborative initiatives. The MOI courses and programmatic activities are designed to cultivate creative and critical problem-solving skills, hone leadership and career development skills, and expose students to a multitude of career opportunities in academics, Pharma, government, and beyond.

The program will support student engagement and development through a variety of activities that include an Annual Student Symposium and Retreat, and Career Development activities. The students enrolled in the MOIM program will be eligible to compete for the following enrichments: The Paceline Trainee Mentored Grants to support Cancer Research as well as programmatic poster and oral presentation awards.
