This policy only applies to Augusta University Health Sciences students during their enrollment in Health Science Programs (e.g. AlliedHIV, HBV, HCV Policy Health, Dentistry, Biomedical Graduate Studies, Medicine or Nursing).

It provides a method to manage students who are, or become infected with a blood borne pathogen including Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), Hepatitis B (HBV), and Hepatitis C (HCV). It describes evidence-based procedures for managing infected students in a way that protects their privacy while providing reasonable precautions to create a safe environment in the academic healthcare setting.

Printable Version of Policy 4.4.1, Student Affairs, HIV, HBV, HCV Policy; Effective 06/06/2013

Any Medical College of Georgia student who knows or has reason to believe that he/she has a blood borne pathogen is required to report this information immediately to the Office of Student Health. Failure on the part of a student to report a known blood borne pathogen may result in disciplinary action, up to and including dismissal.
