Families are part of the transition, too. Family Orientation takes place alongside New Student Orientation for undergraduate students.
Students and families spend part of the day together and part in separate tracks, so each group has time for its own questions. Both programs are planned, hosted, and executed by the Office of New Student & Family Transitions.
The student selects the Orientation session and adds up to five guests in the Orientation Portal.

Meet people from the offices students use and learn where common questions belong.
Students and their guests separate for part of the day so families can talk openly about supporting a new college student.
Take home practical ways to support your student while letting them handle their own university business.
The student Orientation fee is $80. An unpaid fee creates a hold, may affect class registration, and remains on the student’s account until the fee is satisfied.
New Student & Family Transitions handles fee and fee-waiver questions internally and in alignment with the University System of Georgia-approved fee schedule.
Student attendance requirements, virtual-session eligibility, repeat-attendance guidance, and the undergraduate-only program scope are maintained in the Orientation FAQs.
