
The Georgia Cancer Center’s Community STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) Integration program is designed to promote and develop the next generation of biomedical professionals. In conjunction with our community partners, we strive to provide programs and learning experiences that advance training and promote STEM careers.
Summer Cancer Research Experiences at GCC for High School Students
High school students interested in biomedical sciences to participate in leading-edge cancer research & career exploration at the Georgia Cancer Center. Spend 6 weeks alongside top cancer researchers & help advance novel research projects & learn key principles of cancer biology & laboratory investigation, gain hands-on laboratory experience, explore possible career paths, & benefit from individual mentoring & ongoing interactions with multidisciplinary researchers, students, & colleagues in the GCC community.

Scientist For a Day
Tour cutting-edge facilities, do a hands-on science experiment in a GCC laboratory, and interact with GCC students and scientists.

2024 GCC Hosts GSTA
In 2024, GCC hosted a meeting of the Georgia Science Teachers Association (GSTA). School teachers from across Georgia gathered at the GCC to hear about us and how our education mission aligns with theirs.

Area Health Education Centers (AHEC) Partnership
The GCC collaborated with the Georgia Statewide AHEC Network in its mission to respond to the problems of health professionals in rural & underserved areas.

Georgia Youth Science Technology Center (GYSTC) Partnership
The GCC has served as the GYSTC@Augusta site, supporting GYSTC’s mission to offer quality programs for teachers of STEM subjects to improve the teaching and learning process at K-8 levels.

Aiken County Career & Technology Center (ACCTC)
The GCC has partnered with the ACCTC, part of the Aiken County Public School District (ACPSD), to create a cancer research education pipeline.

Richmond County Gifted Program
In 2023, GCC hosted teachers from Richmond County’s Gifted Program to explore ways to engage their students in revamped curricula through local real-world STEM connections.
