Security Operations Center
Augusta University's Security Operations Center (SOC) opened in October 2020 amid
COVID-19 challenges and increased cybersecurity threats. AU's Cyber Defense Team,
along with the help of a student workforce, works diligently to keep Augusta University
and AU Health Systems data safe and secure. Augusta University’s SOC is housed within
the Georgia Cyber Center.
By monitoring and securing the network, the SOC protects our community from cybercriminals intent on harming our organization; this includes protection from data breaches of sensitive information and ransomware attacks, that have recently targeted healthcare and critical infrastructure industries, by providing near real-time monitoring of all system traffic.

Security Operations Center Offically Named SIEGE CyberOps
SIEGE CyberOps, Augusta University's Security Operations Center, is the command center of our organization, continuously monitoring and improving our security capabilities while preventing, detecting, analyzing, and responding to all cyber threats to AU and AUHS. In March 2022, SIEGE CyberOps branding was completed.
Their analysts triage and investigate alerts that might otherwise lead to serious security incidents, stopping them before they happen. The Cyber Defense Team automatically isolates devices when suspected malware has been downloaded, proactively protecting against new cyber-attacks. They also collaborate with other USG entities by sharing all cybersecurity insights and discoveries to help protect others.

Home of AU Cyber Defense Team
The Security Operations Center or SIEGE is the home of Augusta University's Cyber Defense Team. The team protects the organization by monitoring, detecting, analyzing and investigating cyber threats. Networks, servers, computers, endpoint devices, operating systems, applications and databases are continuously examined for signs of a cybersecurity incident.
