How To Apply

Choose

The Graduate School fosters a graduate experience like no other in programs and fields ranging from humanities and business to cybersecurity and health sciences. We equip our students with the advanced training they need to transform both their careers and communities. Augusta University offers a wide range of degrees and programs.

Review

Graduate program deadlines and admission criteria vary between programs. For application details, please see program specific admissions criteria.

Apply

You may apply to more than one graduate program. However, you cannot matriculate into more than one program simultaneously, with the exception of an official dual degree program.

Application materials & documents (e.g. transcripts, proof of degree, transcript evaluations, etc.) must be submitted directly to Augusta University's Office of Graduate Admissions at graduateadmissions@augusta.edu or can be mailed to:

Augusta University
Office of Graduate Admissions Operations, Benet House
2500 Walton Way
Augusta, GA 30904

Official Transcripts

Official transcripts are required from all universities and colleges attended. In the case of transcripts from international colleges/universities, an official course-by-course transcript evaluation is required and will be accepted in lieu of an official transcript. Please visit the International Applicants webpage for details. Official electronic transcripts should be emailed from the issuing institution to Augusta University's Office of Graduate Admissions Operations at graduateadmissions@augusta.edu. Alternatively, official mailed transcripts in the original, unopened, sealed and stamped/signed envelope from the issuing institution can be sent to the address listed above.

Unofficial Transcripts (select programs only)

Unofficial transcripts may be accepted by some programs for the application review process. Applicants who are offered acceptance based on unofficial transcripts must submit their official transcripts to the Graduate Admissions Office prior to the beginning of the entry term. See program's admission criteria page for specific deadlines.

Overall GPA Calculation

Overall undergraduate and graduate GPAs are calculated using a standard formula which includes all work attempted in which letter grades were awarded.

Letters of Recommendation

Please see specific program criteria and requirements. Within the application, you will provide the names and current email addresses for your referees. Instructions for submitting materials online will then be sent to referees.

Standardized Test Requirements

Standardized test requirements vary by program. Please check your program for specific criteria and requirements.
For International Applicants, please see English Proficiency Exam requirements.

Monitor Your Applicant Portal

You can track the receipt of your application materials and the status of your application via the applicant portal. Application decisions will not be made until applications are complete.

Application Review

The program for which you are applying will review your application and supporting documents. Interviews will be scheduled and considered, as applicable to individual programs. Your application should demonstrate substantial preparation for graduate study in the field for which you are seeking admittance. The length of time required to make a decision varies by program.

Decision Notification

Upon recommendation of the program/academic college, The Graduate School will confirm eligibility and finalize an admissions decision. Official decision notifications come to your applicant portal from the Dean of The Graduate School.

Accepting, Deferring, or Appealing

Request to Defer an Application Prior to a Decision

Requests to defer your application and application materials (before an admission decision has been made) to a later semester than the one for which you originally applied can be made using the Application Deferral Request Form located in your applicant portal. Please include a brief rationale for requesting a deferral of your application/application materials and indicate your preferred new entry term.  Deferrals are not automatic and require official approval from the program. Applications deferred to another semester are subject to all admission requirements and program requirements in effect for the semester to which they are deferred. The programs also reserve the right to request updated documents (e.g. references, CV, personal statement etc.) Applicants will be notified of the decision via notification to their applicant portal and must accept or decline their offer of deferral (or will be withdrawn and required to submit a new application to be considered for a future term).

Accept An Offer of Admission

Congratulations on your acceptance!  Upon acceptance, your decision letter and acceptance agreement form will located in your applicant portal. To officially accept your offer of admission:

  • Complete and submit the acceptance agreement form to indicate your intent to enroll.
  • Pay the acceptance deposit (if required by your program).

To meet the conditions of your acceptance, carefully review and follow instructions provided in your acceptance agreement form and applicant portal. Pay close attention to all deadlines including submission of official transcripts and criminal background checks (if required for program).

Request to Defer An Offer of Admission

An offer of admission is made for enrollment in a specific academic term. With official program approval, admission may be deferred to a later semester (not exceeding one year after the semester for which offer of admission is made). Requests for deferrals of admission can submitted using the Application Deferral Request Form located in your applicant portal.  Please include a brief rationale for your deferral request and indicate your preferred new entry term.  Admission deferrals are not automatic and require formal, official approval from the program.

Applicants will be notified of the decision via their applicant portal.   Applicants who do not accept offers of admission (and/or are not approved for a deferral to a new term) will be withdrawn and must submit a new application and supporting materials if they would like to be considered for admission at a later entry term.

Appeal Admission Decision

Graduate applicants who are denied admission may appeal the decision by submitting a written appeal through the Appeal Form. The appeal must include a statement explaining the reasons for the appeal and be submitted within 10 business days of the admission decision being posted in the applicant's admissions portal (as indicated on the denial letter).

Submitting an appeal does not guarantee that the admission decision will be changed. To have merit, the appeal must present new and compelling information.

Please review the full Appeal Process Guidelines and complete the Appeal Form.

Next Steps for Admitted Applicants

Upon acceptance, enrollment information will be provided in your applicant portal. Newly Accepted Students »

International Students - After you have officially accepted your offer of admissions, the International and Postdoctoral Services office will send you an email from ipso@augusta.edu requesting that you log into AU International and complete the appropriate request forms. After they issue your document (I-20 or DS-2019), you can apply for a visa at the embassy or consulate in your home country.
