Animal Facility Access: Non-Research Personnel

The following steps must be successfully completed for all non-research personnel before they will be authorized to enter any animal facility at Augusta University:

Step 1

An Access Request must be submitted for all personnel who are required to enter any animal facility in the performance of their duties. Personnel listed without associated building code and room numbers (ALL is acceptable for each campus when applicable) will not be granted animal facility access. Any staff member may complete the new Animal Facility Access Request. The Supervisor will be notified and must reply to authorize the request.

Step 2

All non-research personnel must complete the online Occupational Health Risk Assessment. This tool determines if a person must be evaluated by employee health prior to gaining facility access.

Step 3

All non-research personnel must complete Vivarium Hazards Training. This training requires about 30 minutes.

Step 4

Once all prior steps (1-3) are completed and clearance is granted by Occupational Health/ Employee Health, The LAS Training Coordinator will contact you to schedule your final practical training.

NOTE: The entire process often takes 2 weeks or more to complete. Prompt responses to email from LASACCESS, IACUC, ANIMALOHP, and LASTRAINING will ensure the most expedited clearance.
Important: All personnel will be notified of annual renewal requirements via email. Failure to complete annual renewals will result in loss of animal facility access.
