Animal User Clearance: Wildlife

The following steps must be successfully completed for each person before they will be authorized to work with wildlife at Augusta University or in the field.

Step 1

Must be completed by the Instructor for each person exposed to wildlife at Augusta University or in the field.

Submit an Animal User Access Request to:

  • request addition of new personnel to the IACUC animal care and use database (REQUIRED).
  • authorize and request personnel access to the animal facility (optional).

The Instructor will be notified when a request is submitted.

Step 2

Must be completed by all instructors and students exposed to wildlife.

Complete the online Occupational Health Risk Assessment. This tool determines if personnel must be evaluated by employee health.

Step 3
Must be completed by all instructors and students exposed to wildlife.

Complete the following online Animal User Training Modules

  • (1) Occupational Health and Safety
  • (5) Laboratory Animal Allergies and Asthma
Step 4
Must be completed by all instructors and students exposed to wildlife.

Complete the CITI Wildlife Training using the guidance provided by your Instructor.

Once the prior step are completed and clearance is granted by Occupational Health/ Employee Health, LAS veterinary or training personnel may contact you to schedule a practical training session.

NOTE: The timing of this process is entirely dependent upon your responsiveness. Prompt responses to email from LASACCESS, IACUC, ANIMALOHP, and LASTRAINING will ensure the most expedited clearance.
