Overview of Greenblatt Services

The Greenblatt Library, established in 1834 and named after prominent MCG physician, Robert B. Greenblatt, M.D. in 1988.

The library provides resources and services for the health information needs of the faculty, staff and students of the Augusta University and Health System, and serves as a source of health information for the state of Georgia.

 

LIBRARY MAP LOCATION

 

LIBRARY PRIVILEGES

A current library barcode entitles its owner full library privileges via the GIL-Express service. Faculty, staff and students may obtain a library barcode by presenting their current Augusta University or Augusta University Medical Center picture identification badge at the Library Information Center.

BORROWING MATERIALS

     - Books: four weeks
     - Bound journals: three days
     - Unbound journals: three days
     - Audiovisuals: three days

RESOURCES

The Library provides an extensive collection of biomedical books, journals and audiovisuals, computer programs, databases, internet resources and various historical collections including university publications and historical archives.

INTERLIBRARY LOAN

Document delivery services will acquire material not available at Augusta University for a small fee through agreements and electronic connections to hundreds of libraries worldwide.

RESERVES

Materials may be placed on reserve to support course instruction for students on GIL-Find located at the Library Information Center.

COLLECTION DEVELOPMENT

The Library purchases materials recommended by faculty using the Collection Development guidelines. Requests for new journal titles require a continuing commitment, and a variety of factors are considered before adding a title. The Collection Development Committee evaluates requests for new journal titles annually.

ASK A LIBRARIAN

Chat live with Augusta University reference Librarians is a service offered Monday-Friday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is best suited to short questions. E-mail to libref@augusta.edu for more detailed requests. Response via e-mail is usually one business day.

EDUCATION

To make arrangements for curriculum support for information management and retrieval, Evidence Based Medicine, EndNote, specific databases and the Internet, call the Education & Information Services Department, 706-721-9911. You can also visit our online tutorials database.

DISTANCE EDUCATION

Library services for distance users can be arranged for students at distance learning and off campus clinical sites.

HOSPITAL AND CLINICS

A Clinical Librarian is available most days in the hospital and clinics. For assistance or to make an appointment contact us via e-mail libref@augusta.edu.

REFERENCE AND CONSULTATION

Library faculty are available for in-depth reference assistance and consultation for access, evaluation, and management of information resources. Quick answers for basic facts will be answered for users via e-mail libref@augusta.edu, by phone 706-721-3441, or in person.

CONFERENCE ROOMS

Several conference rooms and electronic classrooms may be reserved online for meetings or special classes. Each room has multiple student computer stations and an instructor station linked to a projection system.

COMPUTER LAB

The Greenblatt Library open lab space, located on the first floor, provides Augusta University students, staff, and faculty with individual work and collaborative learning spaces. Resource access includes electronic journals, electronic books, databases, productivity applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and scanning on both PC and Mac computers, please review the Public Computer Procedures . Lab computers are not configured to accept personal software. Printing is available for Augusta University students who have a JagCard account. 

     - Black & White = $0.05 per page
     - Color = $0.15 per page.
