Research Databases

  • PURE Experts Research Profiles, Creates a “fingerprint” or profile of all Faculty and co-Authorship relationships are displayed. Discover researchers for potential research collaboration and track recent scholarship.

  • Health and Psychosocial Instruments (HAPI), Identify measures needed for research studies, grant proposals, client/patient assessment. Measurement instruments include questionnaires, checklists, coding and rating scales, etc.

  • JoVE: Journal of Visualized Experiments, Publishes peer-reviewed research in visual format to address the challenges of reproducibility of results. JoVE allows researchers to learn new techniques for clinical and basic science experiments. Subscribed subjects include biology, bioengineering, immunology, neuroscience and medicine.

  • MEDLINE via Ovid, Easy to use search system, with links to full-text and library catalog to locate articles

  • MEDLINE via PubMed, Clinical Queries searches systematic reviews, clinical studies and medical genetics, the related articles link uses a computer algorithm to find similar articles in MEDLINE. PubMed links to genetic databases and medical references texts when appropriate

  • PsycINFO, Psychological aspects of medicine, psychiatry, nursing, pharmacology, and physiology. Limit search to psychology subfields such as clinical or neuropsychology, publication Formats include conference proceedings, book chapters, biography.

  • Web of Science, Multidisciplinary subject resource covering basic and applied sciences. Can perform cited reference search to view author impact. Use an individual article to find related citations on research topic.


Research Guides

  • Copyright and Fair Use, Provides information on copyright standards including educational fair use. Describes author rights and consideration for copyright agreements. Illustrates accepted practice for using resources within the learning management system.

  • Data Management Planning, Find requirements for submission of data plans to federal funding agencies. Use DMPTool subscribed resource for data management plan templates. Link to data management resources.

  • Interlibrary Loan, Request journal articles not available via eJournal Navigator or library catalog, Fee-based service; $7.00 per article for Augusta University community, must register to create personal/department account.

  • NIH Public Access Policy, Monitor you funded research to ensure federal compliance. Prepare to submit your manuscript to the NIH system. Completing the approval process for individual articles.

  • ORCID, Resolves name ambiguity problem with unique 16 digit identifier. Improves discoverability of individual researcher scholarly output. Connects your scholarship to PURE profiles and PACT faculty reporting system.

  • Research Services Guide, Serves information needs of clinical and basic science faculty conducting research. Identifies research tools including publication assistance and research impact. Find resources for data sets, research protocols, and psychosocial research.

  • Scholarly Commons, Digitizes scholarly works and historical documents generated by the university community. A handle (permalink) is assigned to all materials deposited and usage statistics are provided. Higher visibility of scholarly works in search engines achieved with priority indexing and ranking.


Alumni

According to the Augusta University's Office of Institutional Research, sixty-five percent of Augusta University living alumni reside in Georgia. Augusta University Alumni are encouraged to use the following resources to meet their health information needs.

The Library Information Center (706-721-3441) can refer alumni to specific assistance with many of the Library's resources and services. Augusta University graduates wishing to conduct research in the Library have access to many of the Greenblatt Library's resources. Access to Greenblatt Library’s databases, ejournals, ebooks, and other electronic resources are only granted on campus.

National Library of Medicine (NLM)

The National Library of Medicine has resources for the health professional and the public.

  • Health databases such as MEDLINE
  • Human genome information
  • Environmental health and toxicology databases
  • Bibliographies on current medical topics
  • MedlinePlus consumer health site

Search NLM databases - PubMed MEDLINE, NLM Gateway, SIS

  • PubMed MEDLINE provides access to the National Library of Medicine's free MEDLINE database containing over 15 million medical literature

Interlibrary Loan (ILL)

  • Many public libraries offer interlibrary loan services and can request journal articles and other materials from other libraries for you. Costs for interlibrary loan will vary depending on the public library's policies and may be free to you in some cases.
  • Please contact your local public library for more information about their interlibrary loan services (find your local Georgia or South Carolina public library's contact information).

Online Research Databases and GALILEO

  • Alumni are welcome to come in person to Greenblatt Library or Reese Library and access our online research databases on site (no remote access is available for alumni). Some health science databases are available at Greenblatt only. You can use one of our community user computers or bring your own device and connect to the university's guest WiFi to access the Libraries' databases.
  • All Georgia public libraries provide their cardholders in-person and remote access to a number of research databases through the public library version of GALILEO. The public library version of GALILEO provides access to some academic medical and scientific databases, journals, and eBooks. Some Georgia libraries may offer additional research databases to cardholders.
  • Most U.S. public libraries offer both in-person and remote access to research databases for their cardholders. Databases available will vary.

Find Books and Media

  • Alumni and Georgia residents can become community users of the Augusta University Libraries (Reese and Greenblatt) and borrow physical materials, including books. You can register as a community user in person at either Reese or Greenblatt. Community users can borrow up to five items from the physical collection at a time.

    • Use our library catalog to search for books and other physical materials of interest.
  • All Georgia residents, Georgia property owners, and/or employees of a Georgia-based business can become a cardholder at any participating Georgia PINES Network public library location at no cost to them. Most public library systems in Georgia participate in the PINES network, and all of the Georgia public library systems in and around Augusta participate in PINES (find your local Georgia PINES library).

    • Use the Georgia PINES library catalog to search for books and other materials of interest.
  • Alumni outside of Georgia, in most of the Atlanta metropolitan area, and in the Chattahoochee Valley Public Library System around Columbus can also become cardholders at their local public library and borrow books and other materials (find your local Georgia or South Carolina public library).
