COMMUNITY-ENGAGED SPOTLIGHT
Translating language into community impact:
Spanish Translation & Methodology
Dr. Giada Biasetti’s Spanish language and translation course engages students in applied translation theory and practice through real-world, community-centered projects. In one collaborative effort, more than a dozen students translated a Spanish-language memoir on domestic violence, expanding access to an important narrative for English-speaking audiences. Students developed professional skills in editing, reviewing, and refining translations while strengthening teamwork and communication. This project reflects Dr. Biasetti’s ongoing commitment to meaningful community engagement through translation work.
