EMS Student Ride Along

We've complied all the information, readings, and processes you will need to complete an EMS ride along while on your 4th year elective in Emergency Medicine. Please read through all of the information provided below.

  • EMS rides consist of physician response vehicle ride-alongs, ride-alongs with Gold Cross EMS, and with Augusta Fire Rescue.   For all ride-alongs uniform will be required.  Uniform will not consist of scrubs.
  • Uniform will consist of khaki type pants with belt and polo shirt. Shoes must be professional or athletic type shoes. No open toes, no sandals, no heels. You must wear your ID badge.
  • The physician response vehicle is not in service for student rides everyday, thus rides are limited and will be given on a first come / first served basis.  Most rides with the physician response vehicle will be during daytime hours but this may change depending on the EMS physician on that day. Rarely, emergent issues/ administrative duties may arise for the EMS physician on the day you are scheduled. Therefore you may be “bumped” off the physician response vehicle. In this case every effort will be made to arrange for you to ride with Gold Cross.

For those assigned to the physician response vehicle there will be specific dates to which you will be assigned. Gold Cross ride-alongs can happen most days.

After reading all of the information on this page, please email Lauren Neely, with your completed release of liability form.

For those assigned to the physician response vehicle there will be specific dates to which you will be assigned.
