The PCL Clinical Experience includes: Telemedicine Patient Experience Session, Clinical Procedures Session, and Ultrasound Session. 

Block 7 OBJECTIVES AND ASSESSMENTS

Telemedicine Encounters (1:00 or 1:50 start) 

  • The interviewer will be conducting the encounter while the scribe observes.

AMWELL NOW     SOAP PRESENTATION DEBRIEF  EPIC ACCESS  STAFF DOCUMENTATION QUALTRICS SURVEY

Clinical Procedures  (1:00 & 1:50 start) 

  • Glucose finger stick as a group then review previous procedures(EKGs, ultrasound guided needle placement, videos on NGs and foley catheters, placing IVs/IOs)

2:40 PM

FAST & Gallbladder Long Ultrasound

  • Obtain required images with partners
  • Send your RUQ view to yourself to submit for your post quiz

Telemedicine Patient Encounter

REFRESH

  • Review the SOAP presentation video
  • Review PCL Note Template with additions specific for primary care and chronic conditions and Example Note that follows this template
  • Review Telehealth Exam
  • Review 'Follow up' Chronic Issue Note

PREWORK REQUIRED

  • Review your patient's medical history and prepare for your telehealth visit
  • Recommend reviewing and choosing a chronic abdominal complaint to review if possible (Example: GERD, chronic pancreatitis, Fatty Liver, Constipation, IBS)
  • EMR training: (Pending email from Ms. Carvonne Hall) Complete all requirements for EPIC access in the following order: 
    • ACEMAPP requirements refer to email from Carvonne Hall once received
    • EPIC online Training
    • Obtain oneID (Help with oneID)
    • Set up Authenticator
  • After completion of the above EMR training watch the below to further prepare specifically for our clinic:
    • EPIC login and setting up of your home screen
    • How to Start, Complete, and Forward your Telemedicine note 
  • Review Telemedicine Abdominal Exam Video and Comprehensive Documentation Tips from Gastroenterology Joint Society

POSTWORK

  • Recorders must complete your patient's note by 5:00 PM the day after your patient encounter and sign/submit your note to Clinical Experience Preceptor and partner in a [secure] email.  If this is not completed on time, you will lose professionalism points. 
  • Once your note is sent to your Clinical Experience Preceptor, fill out  Staff Documentation Qualtrics Survey to receive documentation feedback.  
  • Complete the  Class of 2028 PCL Clinical Experience Post-Visit Survey.  
  • Possible Postwork if have not received the email from Ms. Carvonne Hall prior to my day then I will ensure I complete the :

  • Symptoms to Diagnosis: Part 3 Abdominal Pain (Recommended Common Chronic Issue Sections include 14,16, 20, 21 - Chronic Pancreatitis, IBS, Nephrolithiasis, PUD)
  • In the Clinic: Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (2018)
  • In the Clinic: GERD (2015)
  • In the Clinic: Irritable Bowel Syndrome (2017)
