The PCL Clinical Experience includes: Telemedicine Patient Experience Session, Clinical
Procedures Session, and Ultrasound Session.

Telemedicine Encounters (1:00 or 2:00 start)
- The interviewer will be conducting the encounter while the scribe observes
- Complete the SOAP Presentation Debrief Qualtrics form with a faculty member during
your debrief session

- Students will be practicing obtaining IV and IO access on task trainers.

Cardiac Ultrasound
- Consent your partner INFORMED CONSENT If need reminder on consent or appropriate gowning-rewatch this Gowning Cardiac
- M1s will obtain required cardiac and IVC images with their partners
- Have US debrief up while obtaining images to receive feedback from staff
- Recommend saving all images, but you MUST save IVC longitudinal view to upload into
D2L post quiz
- Half of the class will be performing 15 mins. dexterity assessments with Dr. Adams
(she will come to your room at the designated time)

Telemedicine Patient Encounter

PREWORK
- For those who have seen their patient before review your patient's medical history
from your prior notes and prepare a tentative plan for your telehealth visit. Take
into account you will not have EMR access to be able to review new events since your
last visit. This information will need to be obtain during your interview. For those
seeing a new patient develop a plan for an initial encounter with a patient when unable
to review chart information.
- Review the SP patient information in case your patient does not show.
- Watch basic telemedicine exam and documentation
- Watch the Principles of Motivational Interviewing and Core Skills
POSTWORK
- Recorders must complete your patient's note by 5:00 PM the day after your patient
encounter and sign/submit your note to Clinical Experience Preceptor and partner in
a [secure] email. If this is not completed on time, you will lose professionalism
points.
- Once your note is sent to your Clinical Experience Preceptor, fill out Staff Documentation Qualtrics Survey to receive documentation feedback.
- Complete the Class of 2028 PCL Clinical Experience Post-Visit Survey.
- (Pending email from Ms. Carvonne Hall) Complete all requirements for EPIC access prior
to Block 5 in the following order:
- ACEMAPP requirements refer to email from Carvonne Hall once received
- EPIC online Training
- Obtain oneID
- Set up Authenticator
- If any of the above is not completed on time you will lose professionalism points.

- Students will be scanning the cardiac and IVC views on their PCE partner/colleague. This
involves placing the ultrasound probe on the chest wall. Please make sure you review
the images required prior to your PCE day and complete the attestation to serve as
a student ultrasound volunteer in your pre-quiz.
