International Ultrasound

kaminsteinus

In countries with limited medical resources, ultrasound has proven to be an even more invaluable tool to medical practitioners. Several internationally renowned faculty members of the Center for Ultrasound Education are already involved in training throughout the world.

These activities will be used to promote international recognition of the center. Training programs in areas of ultrasound for tropical infectious disease and ultrasound in the austere environment will be further developed as part of the center's activities.

Training outreach includes on-site courses in North America, South America, Africa, Asia and Europe. These courses focus on the unique ultrasound skills required when working in each environment. Training consists of remote and live lectures, as well as extensive hands-on training.

The center's international work provides a focus point for the growing interest in global health among medical students, residents, fellows and faculty.

Ultrasound for Tropical Infectious Disease

Ultrasound is a highly useful tool in resource limited settings. Ultrasound can be the sole diagnostic imaging modality for many diseases, particularly tropical infectious diseases. Below are lectures given in Lima, Peru at the Clinical Ultrasound in Tropical Infectious Disease. This course is held annually at the Instituto de Medicina Tropical, Alexander von Humboldt, Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia in Lima, Peru and joint hosted through Augusta University and University of Pavia, Division of Infectious Diseases.
