Dr. Ellis is a graduate of the University of Oregon where he earned his undergraduate
degree in psychology. From Oregon, he joined the US Army as a mental health specialist
working with Soldiers in San Antonio, Texas and Fairbanks, Alaska. During this time
he found his true passion in helping people within the medical field and was accepted
to AT Still University in Mesa Arizona where he completed his medical degree. He completed
his residency training at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma Washington and his
first assignment out of residency was at Eisenhower Army Medical Center as an academic
internist. After four years at Eisenhower, he left the military and started at Augusta
University Medical Center as an academic hospitalist, where he has enjoyed working
with the residents and medical students to develop the next generation of compassionate,
comprehensive physicians.
Clinically, he is focused on improving communication between healthcare providers
throughout the hospital to provide high-quality, comprehensive, compassionate care.
His research interests include developing an academic provider curriculum and resident
well-being.
Outside of the hospital he can usually be found with his wife and two children and
their myriad of activities which mostly include mountain biking, badminton, walking
their dogs or playing basketball.
