MCG Education Simulation

Course Overview

The Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine is pleased to offer the Maintenance of Certification in AnesthesiologyTM (MOCA®) simulation course as an ASA-endorsed simulation center.

The course is conducted at Augusta University's Interdisciplinary Simulation Center and offers credit for MOCA 2.0® Part 4 (up to 25 points).

Course Dates and Fees

Course Date

Beginning in 2025, we plan to hold MOCA sessions once a month, March through November, depending on need.

The typical MOCA session will be held on a Thursday, 10am to 4pm, for up to two learners.

Fee

$1500 (includes $125 ASA fee)

You may pay by check or ACH (bank transfer).

  • If you are paying by check (payable to Augusta University Research Institute), please mail it along with the form to: Anesthesiology, Medical College of Georgia, Augusta University, 1120 15th Street BI-2144, Augusta, GA 30912.
  • If you are paying via ACH, please email your completed form to MCGMOCA@augusta.edu. We will forward payment information to you. Once we receive confirmation of payment, your request will be processed within 5 business days.

Lunch

When registering, please list any dietary restrictions on the registration form (lunch will be provided).

ASA Credit

To receive the additional 5 MOCA Part 4 points (for a total of 25 points), participants will be asked to submit a personal practice evaluation to the American Board of Anesthesiology within 3 months of course completion. Participation in this course is not graded. Course attendance and completion of the ABA post-course follow-up satisfies Part 4 MOCA requirements for the 5-year cycle. An ASA account number is required to earn these credits.

Cancellation policy

If you need to cancel, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can inform anyone who may be on the waiting list.

  • If the cancellation is made within 30 business days prior to the course, the registration cost less a 25% processing fee will be refunded.
  • If the cancellation is made within 14 business days prior to the course, the registration cost less a 50% processing fee will be refunded.
  • If the cancellation is made within 48 hours of registered course or if the participant does not show up, there will be no refund.

The MOCA Simulation Director reserves the right to make exceptions to the above.  All such requests should be in writing and addressed to Dr. Vikas Kumar (Anesthesiology, Medical College of Georgia, Augusta University, 1120 15th Street BI-2144, Augusta, GA 30912).

IMPORTANT NOTICE

Because of the logistics, cost, and personnel required to run this course, if not enough people are registered by 6 weeks prior to the course, we reserve the right to reschedule the course. We will notify you as soon as possible if we do decide to reschedule.
