Pediatric Anesthesiology Fellowship

operating room

The Pediatric Anesthesiology Fellowship at the Children’s Hospital of Georgia is a one-year, ACGME-accredited program. The fellowship in pediatric anesthesiology was created to further specialize clinical training and knowledge in the perioperative care of our very youngest patients, from neonates up to individuals who are 21 years old.

Since 2013, the American Board of Anesthesiology has offered an examination to confirm board certification in the sub-specialty of pediatric anesthesiology. Our goal is to get you ready for an amazing career in the sub-specialty of pediatric anesthesia. We have one fellowship spot per academic year available to qualified candidates.

Clinical Experience

Our fellowship offers twelve clinical rotations for the fellowship year. The rotations include acute pain, general pediatric surgery, PICU, supervision, an elective month, and two months of cardiac with an option for a third. All surgical service lines are represented at The Children’s Hospital of Georgia. We have a 45-bed Level IV NICU, as well as a 13-bed pediatric intensive care unit.

Didactics

The fellowship in pediatric anesthesiology was created to further specialize clinical training and knowledge in the perioperative care of our very youngest patients, from newborns up to 21 years old. The focus of our didactic program will be to prepare our fellow for the ABA sub-specialty board exam in pediatrics anesthesiology. Our fellow will participate in weekly department grand round lectures, a weekly fellow lecture, monthly Pediatric Quality Improvement Conference, as well as a quarterly journal club. We also expect that our fellow will formally participate in the didactic program for our anesthesiology residents.

Apply

Requirements for application include: Completion of ACGME accredited anesthesiology residency, three letters of recommendation, your CV, and a personal statement.  We receive completed applications through SF Match, and participate in the match via the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP).
