Doctorate of Education (Ed.D.) in Educational Innovation

Our in-person doctoral program in Educational Innovation with a concentration in Teaching and Curriculum, is designed for practitioners who work in varied educational settings including Pk-12, higher education, and other educational sectors. For Pk-12 educators, this program provides certification upgrade through the PSC. Our Teaching and Curriculum program also supports educational innovation for educators who are not seeking certification upgrades, but instead desire advanced preparation in pedagogy, curriculum development, instructional design, assessment, and teaching in higher education or professional programs. 

The Teaching and Curriculum concentration prepares professionals to strengthen teaching and learning, develop curriculum, foster innovation, respond to changing educational needs, and apply research to real-world problems.

Based on the Carnegie Project on the Educational Doctorate (CPED) principles, the 55-hour program of study includes 19 hours of core coursework, 9 hours in a certification area of choice (see list of 27 concentrations available for PSC upgrades), 12 hours in research, and 15 hours of capstone/dissertation in practice.

Students progress through the program as a cohort, and courses are taught face-to-face over six weekends each semester. The face-to-face nature of the program helps students build strong relationships with their peers and faculty, creating opportunities for co-presentations at regional and national conferences, co-authored publications, and ongoing professional collaboration. These connections also support strong career outcomes, with the program reporting a 100% employment outcome for graduates.

**In order for an individual to be considered and then invited for an interview, the online application and all materials must be received on or before November 2. Cohorts begin only in summer term.
