We are deeply committed to shaping compassionate, culturally humble, and thoughtful leaders who are equipped to create positive change and advocate for a just, inclusive, and courageous world for all.
We support students who want to become impactful educational leaders, researchers, and change-makers. Their interests span areas like curriculum and teaching, mental health and school counseling, gifted and literacy education, educational foundations and research, and educational innovation. Our faculty are at the forefront of research and teaching. With our new Carnegie-inspired doctorate in educational innovation, we’re creating more opportunities for students to help advance their communities in thoughtful and meaningful ways.

The Department of Research, Counseling and Curriculum is committed to scholarship, service, and teaching through which we provide:
The emphasis of the professional preparation program is on integrating scientific knowledge, pedagogical theory, skill acquisition, and application into a comprehensive educational experience. The educational program is conducted in an atmosphere that is open, concerned, and responsive to the needs of students and the community.
We collaborate with professional associations, local P-12 schools, and other educational institutions, as well as area counseling and health service and community organizations. In addition, we inspire Augusta University students to make a lifelong, creative commitment to their personal growth and well-being—and to support the growth and well-being of others—through education that fosters a more just and peaceful society. A student so educated has gained the knowledge and skill necessary for cultivating such optimal physical, emotional, intellectual, spiritual, interpersonal, social, and environmental wellness and transformative work.
Additionally, the Department strives to ensure that the missions of the College of Education and Augusta University are realized.
Our faculty and staff are committed to high impact practice within the context of a caring community, and produce innovative research that seeks to address matters related to mental health, intellectual growth, ethical development and social justice.
