Jack Ellis, DO

Associate Program Director for the Internal Medicine Residency Program

jacellis@augusta.edu

Dr. Ellis is a graduate of the University of Oregon where he earned his undergraduate degree in psychology. From Oregon, he joined the US Army as a mental health specialist working with Soldiers in San Antonio, Texas and Fairbanks, Alaska. During this time he found his true passion in helping people within the medical field and was accepted to AT Still University in Mesa Arizona where he completed his medical degree. He completed his residency training at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma Washington and his first assignment out of residency was at Eisenhower Army Medical Center as an academic internist. After four years at Eisenhower, he left the military and started at Augusta University Medical Center as an academic hospitalist, where he has enjoyed working with the residents and medical students to develop the next generation of compassionate, comprehensive physicians.

Clinically, he is focused on improving communication between healthcare providers throughout the hospital to provide high-quality, comprehensive, compassionate care. His research interests include developing an academic provider curriculum and resident well-being.

Outside of the hospital he can usually be found with his wife and two children and their myriad of activities which mostly include mountain biking, badminton, walking their dogs or playing basketball.
