Chantelle Brown, MD
Associate Program Director for the Internal Medicine Residency Program
Dr. Chantelle Brown is a Hospitalist in the Division of Hospital Medicine. Originally from Kingston, Jamaica, she earned her undergraduate degree from Rochester Institute of Technology before obtaining her medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine. She completed her residency training, where she served as Chief Resident, and subsequently pursued additional training in point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) and medical education.
Dr. Brown was drawn to hospital medicine after recognizing her passion for caring for underserved communities, shaped in part by her experience growing up in a developing country. She is passionate about medical education, mentorship, and patient-centered care, with a strong commitment to supporting learners from diverse backgrounds. Her
clinical interests include inpatient medicine, evidence-based practice, bedside ultrasound, and trainee development. She has a particular focus on expanding the role of POCUS in clinical care and education, using ultrasound to enhance clinical reasoning, support real-time diagnostic and management decisions, and enrich bedside teaching. She is dedicated to helping learners develop confidence in image acquisition and interpretation while strengthening the connection between physical examination findings and bedside imaging.
In addition to her work in ultrasound education, she is deeply engaged in bedside teaching and finds fulfillment in mentoring trainees as they develop into skilled, confident, and compassionate clinicians.
Outside of medicine, she enjoys traveling and exploring different cultures through food, from local street vendors to well-known restaurants. She also appreciates cultural festivals for their music, traditions, and cuisine. In her free time, she enjoys gardening, listening to music, staying active, and spending quality time with family and friends. She is also an avid dog lover.
