About the Chair

Dr. Boadie Dunlop, MD

Boadie Dunlop, MD, MS is the Case Distinguished University Chair of the Department of Psychiatry and Health Behavior at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University. He is a clinician-researcher specializing in the development of personalized medicine approaches to the treatment of mood and anxiety disorders and posttraumatic stress disorder. Dr. Dunlop came to MCG after 28 years with Emory University, where he served as Director of the Mood and Anxiety Disorders Program and the Adult Psychiatry Outpatient Programs, as Co-director of the Emory Center of Psychedelics and Spirituality, and as Medical Director of the Emory Veterans Program.

His published research, supported by several NIH awards, has described the development and application of neuroimaging, metabolomics, inflammation, and clinical assessments for identifying moderators and mediators of outcomes to psychotherapy and medication treatments. More recently he has published extensively on the use of psilocybin and MDMA as agents to enhance psychotherapy for major depression and PTSD. His clinical research activities have also included serving as a site principal investigator for dozens of industry-supported phase 2 and phase 3 trials of novel medications for mood and anxiety disorders. He shares his passion for psychopharmacology and clinical trial design and interpretation through teaching and mentoring psychiatry residents and junior faculty.

Let's make something great together
