Anesthetic Practices

  • Caudal Anesthesia – a safe and effective regional technique for lower abdominal, pelvic, and lower extremity surgeries
  • Spinal Anesthesia – ideal for select pediatric procedures, providing profound pain relief while minimizing exposure to general anesthesia
  • Epidural Analgesia – continuous pain relief for major surgeries, allowing better postoperative recovery
  • Peripheral Nerve Blocks – targeted pain relief for upper and lower extremity surgeries, reducing the need for opioids
  • Peripheral Nerve Catheters – continuous infusion techniques for extended pain relief after major orthopedic, urological, and general surgeries

Why Choose Us?

  • Expert Team – our pediatric anesthesia team has extensive experience in regional anesthesia techniques, ensuring the highest level of care
  • Cutting-Edge Techniques – we are at the forefront of pediatric acute pain management, integrating the latest advancements in the field
  • Family-Centered Approach – we work closely with parents and caregivers to create personalized pain management plans that prioritize comfort and safety
  • Education & Training – as a leading academic institution, we are committed to training the next generation of pediatric anesthesiologists. Our Pediatric Anesthesia Fellowship provides hands-on experience in advanced regional anesthesia techniques.

Our Goals

The goal of the acute pain service is to safely decrease pain and manage the side effects of pain medications. While your child is in our care, our staff will visit or call you and your child every day to make sure that the pain is being treated and to watch for side effects.

It is our pleasure to answer any questions you or your child might have. For more information, please contact Dr. Ana Mavarez or visit our department’s website.
