Frequently Asked Questions

Are there any pre-requisites for the certificate?

There are no prerequisites to enroll in the certificate but the courses LDRS 2000, 3000 and 4999 all have prerequisites.  Specifically for LDRS 2000, students must complete COMM 1110 OR ENGL 1101 with a grade of C or better.

Can a leadership experience/course I took in the past count?

If you took a leadership class at another institution, the program director can determine if the course is equivalent to any leadership course here at AU.

How long does it take to complete the Certificate of Leadership?

The certificate is a "Less than One Year" certificate which means it could be done in two semesters (LDRS 2000 first semester and two bridge courses and capstone the second semester) however, it is preferred to spread it out over multiple semesters.

How can I check the status of my progress?

You can check the status of your progress in the Certificate of Leadership program in JagTrax. On your JagTrax transcript, under the degree drop down menu, choose CERO to see the classes that apply to your certificate.

How do I contact my leadership advisor?

You can schedule an appointment with the program director through the Office of First and Second Year Experiences.

You may also contact us at COL@augusta.edu or 706-737-1742

How do I sign up for the Certificate of Leadership?

To "declare" that you want to enroll in the COL, complete the Student Record Update form, and submit to COL@augusta.edu or bring it by our office (University Hall, UH-331) for signatures.

What do I do once I have completed the requirements?

Meet with your leadership advisor once a semester to verify you have met all requirements and submit the Certificate Application to our office for signatures. A celebration of leaders typically occurs in the Leadership Capstone class (LDRS 4999) where students are presented with their honor cord for graduation.

How do I remove the Certificate of Leadership?

Complete the Student Record Update form, and submit to COL@augusta.edu or bring it by our office (University Hall, UH-331) for signatures.
