Center for Outdoor Recreation & Education

Outdoor Recreation's mission is to provide diverse, high-quality programming that fosters leadership, social development, and lifelong wellness within the Augusta University community. All Outdoor Recreation programs are designed to develop and inspire students while promoting conservation and stewardship of the outdoors. We are dedicated to student growth and empowerment through experiential learning opportunities and collaborative partnerships with academic programs, student organizations, and other university resources.

Our Center for Outdoor Recreation and Education (The CORE) is equipped with a wide array of gear, including bikes, kayaks, and camping equipment, to support your outdoor activities. Additionally, our facility features a climbing tower and a challenge course, providing ample opportunities for adventure and skill-building. We also offer guided trips, workshops, and events for all skill levels, led by our experienced staff who are dedicated to helping you make the most of your outdoor experiences. We are committed to providing experiences that are truly "Like No Other." Join us and enjoy all that Outdoor Recreation has to offer!

Important Notice: The CORE Construction and Renovation Updates

We are excited to announce that our facility will be undergoing construction and renovations this summer, starting on Memorial Day and expected to be completed by the end of August. During this period, our programming and availability will be affected, and we kindly ask for your patience and understanding. Despite these changes, we will continue to operate, albeit with some adjustments.

The renovations are aimed at enhancing our facilities to provide an even better experience for our students and guests. As a result, certain areas may be temporarily inaccessible, and some activities might be modified or relocated to accommodate the construction work.

Our team is committed to ensuring that we can still offer engaging and safe programs and rentals throughout the renovation period. We will keep you updated with any changes that might affect operations.

What to Expect:

  • Modified Hours of Operation: Our hours of operation will be adjusted to accommodate the construction schedule. Updated hours will be posted on our website and social media channels.
  • Limited Access to Certain Areas: Certain areas of our building will be inaccessible during the renovation. We will provide clear signage and directions to help you navigate the changes.
  • Noise and Disruption: Please be aware that there may be increased noise and disruption during construction hours. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience.

 How to Stay Informed:

  • Website Updates: Visit our website regularly for the latest information on programming changes, relocation details, and updated hours of operation.
  • Social Media: Follow us on social media for real-time updates and announcements.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.

We appreciate your understanding and patience as we work to improve our facilities. Our goal is to create a better environment for all our students and visitors, and we are committed to maintaining the quality of our services during this transition.

Thank you for your support!
