Complete Training

Residents rotate through the 478-bed Augusta University Medical Center (AUMC), the 154-bed Children’s Hospital of Georgia (CHOG), and the 155-bed Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center (VAMC), all of which reside in connected buildings within walking distance of each other. As a result, the department performs approximately 260,000 radiology exams per year with a wide range of patients and pathology.

Residents also receive hands-on experience in a large volume of diverse procedures, including but not limited to Y-90 radioembolization, TIPS, lumbar punctures, CT/ultrasound guided biopsies, epidural injections/nerve blocks, arthrograms, vertebra/kypho/sacroplasties, and stereo/MRI/ultrasound guided breast biopsies.

Experienced Mentorship

Residents learn from 39 fellowship-trained faculty members in their respective sections (including 7 from the VA Medical Center), most of which actively participate in research projects not only within radiology but also in the area of quality improvement.

In addition to the robust education in diagnostic and interventional radiology, residents will also get a comprehensive education in radiological physics from 2 full-time physicists
