Kathryn Bollinger, MD, PhD

Dr. Kathryn Bollinger attended the University of Wisconsin and completed both M.D. and Ph.D. degrees at the Medical College of Wisconsin.

Dr. Bollinger completed her ophthalmology residency and fellowship in glaucoma at the Cole Eye Institute-The Cleveland Clinic Foundation.

Dr. Bollinger specializes in screening, diagnosis, and management of all forms of adult glaucoma. She performs laser procedures, glaucoma surgery, and cataract surgery using state-of-the-art techniques. Dr. Bollinger is the principle investigator of an NIH-funded glaucoma research laboratory directed toward identifying early disease markers for glaucoma and targets for therapeutic intervention. She is the recipient of an American Glaucoma Society Mid Career Clinician Scientist Award.

Clinical Arena

Summary: The glaucoma specialist performs diagnostic evaluations as well as medical, laser, and surgical treatment procedures directed toward preventing vision loss from glaucoma. Surgical management also includes combined cataract extraction and glaucoma procedures.

Care areas: Glaucoma screening and medical treatment. Laser and surgical treatments for glaucoma. Cataracts.

Key symptoms: Blurred vision. Gradual decrease In vision. Occasionally ocular pain.
