Credentials & Degree Verification

Any required documentation listed on the position posting such as degrees, diplomas and/or official transcripts, license, or certifications must be provided to the Human Resources office when you pick up your offer letter. We will be unable to complete your on boarding until all necessary documentation is provided.  All documents must be originals, copies will not be accepted. All certifications and licenses must be current and not within a thirty day (30) expiration period.

Augusta University will only accept AHA BLS certification. If your position requires a Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) and you do not currently have an AHA certification, or if the expiration date is within thirty (30) days of your scheduled start day to begin orientation, you may go to the American Heart Association website to complete the written portion of the course. After doing so, contact the Center for Nursing Education at 706-721-8150 and schedule a BLS Skills Check-Off test.  Fees may apply.

If you have a degree, diploma/transcript that needs to be translated and/or evaluated for credential purposes, please refer to a credentialing service such as the CGFNS International (also known as the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools).  Only degrees from US accredited institutions are acceptable.

References

As part of your application, it is required to provide a minimum of three references. References are to be of those individuals that you have had or currently have a working relationship with.  One of the references should be your most current supervisor or if unemployed, the most recent supervisor.  References from friends or relatives are not permissible.  For each reference, be sure to include their name, direct contact phone number, and employer name, and their working relationship to you. The names you provide should be familiar with your work history, work ethic and can be easily contacted.  It is always a good idea to let the references know that you have applied to Augusta University / Augusta University Medical Center, to prevent any surprises of not knowing.

Minimum salary information

There may be a minimum salary or a salary range listed for each position on the vacancy list. Hiring salary offers will not be lower than the posted minimum rate for the position. Actual salary offers are dependent upon the candidate’s qualifications, existing Augusta University policies, and the availability of funds for that department. It is important to demonstrate, on the resume / application, how past experience and education aligns with the posted minimum requirements.

Position Information - It is recommended that you maintain a record of the position(s) that you have applied for.  Once submitted, applications, resumes, work samples, etc... become a part of Human Resources files and may not be retrieved for the applicant or be available for future job postings.  We recommend that you keep a copy of any job listing that you are applying for.

Position Updates - Once a position is removed from the job posting, applications are no longer accepted. If a hiring department wishes to interview you for a position, they will contact you directly. Please do not contact the hiring managers regarding the status of your application. If you are interviewed and not selected for a position, the hiring department may contact you, but this is a courtesy rather than a requirement. Response letters will be sent to all applicants, either via email or US mail, once a candidate has been chosen for the position.

Employment Eligibility

ALL employees must initiate the Federal Form I-9, U.S. Department of Justice, between the offer extended date and no later than their third day of employment. Employees are required to complete the upper portion of this form, in the presence of a representative from the Division of Human Resources. Proof of eligibility to work in the United States is required to satisfy the Federal I-9 document requirements. A list of acceptable documents is included as part of the I-9 form and can be obtained from the Augusta University Human Resources office.  In addition, the new hire's Social Security Card will be required for criminal background authorization and payroll document verification.

E-Verify -  Through participation in the Federal E-Verify program,  Augusta University electronically verifies the employment eligibility and Social Security Number validity of all new hires. E-Verify is an Internet based system operated by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in partnership with the Social Security Administration (SSA). The program allows participating employers to electronically verify the employment eligibility of new hires and the validity of their Social Security Numbers. Employment Offers
