Brandon T. McCray
Vice President for Development
Brandon T. McCray joined Augusta University on August 1, 2022, as Vice President for Development in Philanthropy & Alumni Engagement. He has more than 25 years of experience in developing and leading high-performing teams in higher education and creating a thriving culture of philanthropy.
As the chief fundraising officer, he is responsible for overall strategic leadership for development and alumni engagement for the university and the associated AU Health System. McCray is a member of the President’s Cabinet and works closely with the AU and MCG foundations to help ensure advancement goals are met as a critical part of the ambitious growth outlined in the university’s Creating a Legacy Like No Other strategic plan.
Prior to joining AU, McCray served as interim vice president for Development-Constituent Programs at Florida State University Foundations, where he directed university-wide fundraising initiatives and supervised the departments of annual giving; regional, corporate and foundations; and gift planning; as well as constituent development professionals within 16 colleges and units.
McCray’s portfolio includes leadership roles in several higher education capital campaigns, including the $125 million Power of Transformation Campaign for the University of North Florida and the $1.2 billion Raise the Torch Campaign for Florida State University. He will shepherd Augusta University’s upcoming capital campaign, which is expected to launch in spring 2024.
Philanthropy & Alumni Engagement nurtures relationships with alumni, friends and the campus community to encourage support for Augusta University students, programs and the university environment. We engage our many stakeholders, secure private support through a donor-centered approach, steward and manage gifts, foster community outreach and tell our story broadly to strengthen the university.

Philanthropy & Alumni Engagement is made up of these areas – Central Office, Operations, Alumni Engagement, Annual Giving, Foundations, Finance, and Accounting, Major Gifts and Campaigns.
