The Augusta University Human Assurance Committee meets monthly to review all proposed research protocols to be conducted by faculty and staff of the Georgia Health Sciences University or the Charlie Norwood Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center. The committee's composition meets the standards set forth in the Federal Register.
The Committee on Animal Use for Research and Education (CAURE) oversees the institution's animal program, facilities and procedures. All proposed utilization of animals in teaching, research or testing on the GHSU campus is reviewed as required by Public Health Service Policy. Two full time veterinarians are available to support all animal studies.
