Vice Dean for Academic Affairs
Kelli Braun, MD, serves as Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, where she oversees the
college’s academic enterprise, including medical education programs, admissions, curriculum,
student affairs, faculty development and regional campuses. She provides strategic
leadership for accreditation and quality improvement efforts, serves as MCG’s liaison
to the Liaison Committee on Medical Education, and collaborates with university and
health system leaders to advance innovation and academic excellence across Georgia.
A graduate of the Medical College of Georgia, Braun earned her medical degree in 2004.
She completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology in Augusta and joined the
MCG faculty in 2008. She was appointed associate dean for admissions in 2017 after
serving in the role on an interim basis and led the medical school’s admissions efforts
for nearly a decade.
Over more than 18 years on the faculty, Braun has contributed extensively to undergraduate
and graduate medical education, simulation, accreditation and faculty development.
She recently completed the Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine (ELAM) program,
a national leadership initiative that prepares women for senior leadership roles in
academic health centers.
Braun has received numerous honors for her leadership and commitment to medical education.
In 2015, she received the National Faculty Teaching Award from the American College
of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the Council on Resident Education in Obstetrics
and Gynecology.
In 2023, she was recognized as an American Medical Women’s Association Inspire Awardee
for her contributions to medical education, leadership and mentorship. She has also
received multiple Medical College of Georgia teaching and professionalism awards,
including the Professionalism Award in 2024.
