The Master of Arts in Teaching Online program is designed for those who have earned an undergraduate degree in a
field outside of education.
The Elementary, Middle, Secondary, Special Education, and World Languages programs
are offered entirely online. The Music program requires in-person attendance. Most
courses require 25 hours of field experience, with Elementary experience specific
to your certification field.
Middle Grades (4th-8th): Students must choose two concentrations (English, Science, Math, Social Studies). The GaPSC requires 15 semester credit hours per concentration for certification. If not met at application, you can work with your advisor post-admission to complete the required coursework, which may include in-person attendance.

Several education-related student organizations provide opportunities for students to participate in organizations that can help them network, share ideas and prepare for career advancement.
Augusta University is a hub for community outreach and professional learning opportunities, including the Impacting Student Learning Conference.
The Central Savannah River Oral History Project explores changes in the area’s education system by recording the memories of those who were involved in the change.
Elementary, Secondary, and Special Education coursework is delivered fully online, allowing teaching professionals to continue their education. Middle School coursework can be completed online if content area requirements have been met.
The program offers student teaching opportunities to apply knowledge in real-world educational settings.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median pay for K-12 teachers is $61,820 per year. Job growth is projected to rise at an average rate through 2031.
GPA: Overall GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale at the Baccalaureate level calculated on all undergraduate work.
Degree Requirement: Minimum of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university. If pursuing a degree in Secondary Education, it must be in a related field, or additional coursework must be taken to complete this requirement. You must have 21 upper-level credits completed in the content area in which you are seeking initial certification.
Transcripts: Official transcripts are required from all universities and colleges ever attended.
Standardized Test Requirements: An official GACE content score of 220 or higher is required in both sections. Required at application for Secondary, World Languages, and Music.
Georgia Education Ethics (360) Assessment: Successful completion is required.

The Graduate Hooding and Commencement Ceremony will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, and the Undergraduate Commencement Ceremony at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 12.
