Important Information

Medication Refills

We are happy to help with your child's medication refills.

  • Step 1: Verify, with your pharmacy, that there are no additional refills available or on hold.
  • Step 2: Ask your pharmacy to fax us a refill request - Fax: 706.721.8512.
  • Step 3: If your pharmacy cannot send the request, you may call us and make the request. Be prepared to provide the following information:
    • Your child's first and last name
    • Date of birth
    • Medication name(s)
    • Pharmacy name, pharmacy location (street, city), pharmacy phone number
    • Your phone number

It may take up to 24 hours for your refill authorization to be submitted.

It is important to note that refills can be denied by the Nurse Practitioners and Physicians if your child has not been seen in an appropriate amount of time. You must keep up with appointments and make every effort to attend each one.

Prior Authorizations

Some insurance companies require prior authorizations (PAs) to be completed before medications can be filled. We make every effort to complete these requests promptly. Once we receive the pharmacy request, we submit paperwork to your insurance company. We are not responsible for the amount of time it takes the insurance company to approve/deny the medication.

Appointment Scheduling

Pediatric Appointment Scheduling: 706-721-2390

You need to make every effort to arrive for your child's scheduled appointments and be on time. If you need to cancel/reschedule, you can call our scheduling line at 706-721-2390. If your child is seen in our Cystic Fibrosis Center, you must contact the office to make scheduling changes at 706-721-2635. If you are going to be late, we ask that you contact us promptly so we may notify the providers and determine if you should reschedule.

Please note, your child may not be seen if you:

  • Are late for an appointment.
  • Arrive on a day other than your scheduled date.
  • Arrive at the wrong time of day.

Sick Appointments
Because we are a specialty service, we do not keep "sick" appointment openings; therefore, you may not be seen the same day you call. If your child is sick and you feel it is a pulmonology issue, please call our office, and we will have a nurse call you back to discuss the symptoms and provide recommendations. You can also schedule an appointment to see your PCP/Pediatrician. If you feel your child is in immediate danger and in urgent need of care, please call 911 or go to your local emergency room.

New Patient Referrals

We only accept new patients on a referral basis. Your PCP/Pediatrician must send us a new patient referral to schedule an appointment.

School Forms

Your school and school system may require paperwork to allow your child to use medications at school.

  • Step 1: Verify what your school/system policy is - most schools/school systems have a specific form that we need to complete and sign.
  • Step 2: You may drop off any needed paperwork at the check-in desk in our clinic or fax the information to us at 706.231.8512.
  • Step 3: We will complete and return the information via fax to your school (unless otherwise noted).

These requests may take up to 72 hours to complete, so please do not expect an immediate turnaround.

Insurance

Wellstar MCG Health accepts all the major insurances, as well as Medicaid (including Amerigroup and Wellcare) and Peachcare. If you have any questions, please contact our scheduling center at 706.721.2390. For additional information, visit Billing and Insurance.
