Research Interests

I view my scholarship at the nexus of health communication, organizational communication, and interdisciplinary studies (e.g., medicine, women, gender and sexuality). My program of research has primarily focused how embodied differences and identities are constructed, shaped, and constrained through storytelling and organizing practices. Generally, I am interested in how storytelling and difference are central to the processes surrounding producing and circulating meanings about health, healthcare, organizing, and bodies. In particular, I explore how health, healing, and identities are embodied and storied, with the capacities to promote dialogue and action toward social and organizational change, particularly within the confines of healthcare.
