Bio

Dr. LaRavia received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the Georgia Campus-Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Atlanta, GA in 2010. He completed his Emergency Medicine residency training at Medical College of Georgia in 2013, then remained at MCG to complete the Emergency Medicine Ultrasound fellowship in 2014. He is the Director of Clinical and Emergency Ultrasound and Assistant Director of Emergency Medicine Clerkship. His primary areas of clinical interest are Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS) with a focus on ultrasound guided regional anesthesia in the emergency department, musculoskeletal ultrasound, as well as resident and medical student education.

Dr. LaRavia is faculty in the Augusta University Center for Ultrasound Education. Through MCG and Augusta University he is actively involved in providing POCUS training from the undergraduate medical level to the post graduate medical level locally, regionally and even internationationally at Instituto de Medicina Tropical, Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia in Lima, Perú and Complejo Hospitalario Metropolitano in Panamá City, Panamá.

He is also involved in the Wellstar MCG Health Telehealth and Virtural Care programs. Growing up in a very rural part of Louisiana, he appreciates the critical need of having access to a good system of medical care close to home and sees the benefits of these programs.

When he’s not working, Lee enjoys traveling, especially to Italy and other parts of Europe as well as Central and South America. He likes to kayak and paddleboard and is also an avid woodworker and gardener.
