Teaching Interests

I have a strong passion to teach students the skills needed to provide quality patient care particularly in the field of Respiratory Therapy. Having family members with differing levels of abilities, I also believe that healthcare professionals should advocate for those we serve, so advocacy and professionalism are strongly embedded in all my courses. I am a visual and kinesthetic learner, so I look for ways to bring learning topics to life in addition to the traditional method of lecturing. Finding ways to promote student learning engagement is also a priority for me since effective communication is one of the most important skills a healthcare worker can possess.

Research Interests

My research interests include COPD awareness and Asthma education. I also have a research interest in specialty modes of ventilation such as APRV and HFOV. I am active with health fairs which provide COPD screenings for at risk individuals. I am a certified Asthma Educator and have served and coordinated Asthma Camp in recent years. I have also partnered with colleagues on a couple of case studies which we presented at National Conferences.
