Bio

Dr. Whitaker is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon with a fellowship in adult reconstruction. After graduating from The University of Richmond, he earned his medical degree from Virginia Commonwealth University / Medical College of Virginia in 1998. He completed an orthopaedic residency at William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, Texas in 2005. After two military deployments and an overseas assignment, Dr. Whitaker completed a fellowship in Adult Reconstruction of the Hip and Knee at Virginia Commonwealth University in 2010. He then joined the faculty at Eisenhower Army Medical Center in 2011 and served as Chairman of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation from 2014 until his Army retirement in 2020, after 22 years of service. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) and a member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS). Dr. Whitaker has published several peer-reviewed journal articles and online publications. He specializes in adult reconstruction of the hip and knee, which includes treatment of hip and knee problems arising from arthritis and other inflammatory conditions, trauma, and congenital/developmental conditions.
