Bio
Dr. Tugmon earned her Ph.D. in Zoology from the University of New Hampshire in 1993 and a M.S. in Biology from the Midwestern State University in Biology in 1987. Areas of expertise include spider and insect identification, as well as other characteristics about spiders and the bacteria they commonly carry on their bodies. She currently serves as Vice Chair of the University Senate and Co-chair of the Quality Enhancement Plan Development committee.

Isolation of bacteria from spiders found in a variety of habitats, identification of the bacteria, determination of antibiotic sensitivities of the isolated bacteria, spider silk and spider proteases.
