PATH-5016: Anatomic Pathology

Dr. Bruker

Location : Laboratory Services, VAMC

Enrollment : 2 maximum

Prerequisites : Phase II

Duration : 1 month

Months Offered : All

Goals:To help students to perform a number of basic anatomic pathology techniques and apply
clinical judgment commensurate with their medical knowledge.

Objectives : Learn basic diagnosis through surgical and autopsy divisions in pathology.

Activities :

■  Perform autopsy and find basic clinical pathologic correlations.

■  Participate in processing and examination of surgical pathology and cytology specimens.

■  Apply clinical interpretation and medical judgment in such examination.

■  Attend conferences and lectures.

Assessment : Evaluation based on the following skills:

■  Gross examination of surgical specimens.Dr. Toscano

■  Microscopic examination of slides.

■  Case presentation.

■  Professionalism and attendance.

Note: An oral presentation is mandatory for performance excellence.
