Dr. Waller Bio

Dr. Jennifer Waller obtained a PhD in Biostatistics from the Arnold School of Public
Health at the University of South Carolina in 1994. She came to Augusta University
and the Medical College of Georgia in 1997 to teach, collaborate, and consult with
health sciences researchers and students. Currently, she is an Professor of Biostatistics
and the Director of the Statistical Consulting Center in the Division of Biostatistics
and Data Science, Department of Population Health Sciences. From 2007-2015 she served
as the Graduate Director for the biostatistics programs and from 2008-2017 she served
as the Director of the Clinical and Translational Science programs. She was the Conference
Co-Chair for SouthEast SAS Users Group in 2008 and the Conference Chair for SAS Global
Forum 2016, both conferences for users of SAS software, the industry standard for
statistical analysis software.
Dr. Waller has worked with health researchers in more disciplines than she can count
on her fingers and toes. She has been consistently successful in aiding researchers
in obtaining intramural and extramural funding by providing her statistical expertise.
She aids in study design, ensuring hypotheses are testable, sample size or power
determination, proposed statistical methodology, statistical analysis, written statistical
methods and results, and manuscript preparation.
Dr. Waller’s philosophy is that every research project should have the most appropriate
statistical method applied to the data and that collaborating with a statistician
before data is collected is the best approach to doing good research.
