Endodontics Residency Clinic

Endodontists are specialist dentists with additional training in treating diseases and injuries of the pulp and associated conditions, often involving root canal therapy, to save the natural tooth.

The Department of Endodontics’ residents, supervised by a team of specialty-trained endodontic faculty, offer the latest therapies to preserve your smile and oral health. Endodontic care usually requires follow-up with a general dentist for final restoration of the tooth (i.e., filling, crown). The Department of Endodontics will be glad to work with your family dentist to coordinate treatment.

As part of our teaching mission, we provide a 24-month advanced education program (residency) to dentists seeking to become specialists in endodontic care. These licensed, experienced clinicians operate under the supervision of fully-qualified specialists at reduced costs below faculty fees. These residents will ensure your comfort, ease your anxiety, and make every visit as pleasant as possible.

Endodontic Services

The Endodontics Residency offers the following services:

  • Root canal therapy
  • Pulpotomy, to remove part of the infected nerve and preserve remaining nerves and vessels for continued root development
  • Apicoectomy, an in-office surgery to treat a previous root canal in which inflammation or infection persists
  • Retreatment of previous root canals for other causes
  • Therapies to repair, restore, and save cracked teeth
  • Internal/External root repair to prevent resorption of the tooth and the discoloration this causes
  • Dento-Alveolar trauma management to preserve natural teeth following injury
  • Regeneration/Revascularization of infected root canals for permanent teeth in children to allow continued root development
  • Easy, often same-day, chair-side consults with other dental specialists
  • Access to all dental, medical, and specialty resources of Augusta University, the state's largest training facility for healthcare professionals
