Undergraduate Admission Requirements

INFORMATION FOR GRADUATE ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS

  • Please submit an application first, then send all additional documents to us. (Do not send accompanying documents to us if you have not submitted an application first.)
  • Pay the $60 non-refundable application processing fee.
  • Please make sure that you submit your application and additional documents prior to the assigned application deadline. (Your application will be incomplete if you submit documents after the application deadline.)

Transcripts:

High school (secondary school) transcripts from each and every institution must be submitted for review. If your high school is outside of the United States and not accredited by a U.S. Regional Association of Colleges and Schools, we recommend (not required) that you use a "course-by-course" (not document-by-document) evaluation service to ensure that your transcript is evaluated properly.

These are the approved evaluation services:

  • Josef Silny & Associates, Inc.
  • World Education Services (WES)
  • Educational Credential Evaluators, Inc. (ECE)

College transcripts from each institution attended during high school must be submitted for review. If you have attended college after high school graduation, you are not eligible to be a First-Year applicant and should submit a Transfer application. If your college is outside of the United States and not accredited by a U.S. Regional Association of Colleges and Schools, we require that you use an evaluation service that does a "course by course" evaluation to ensure that your transcript is evaluated properly (if you do not submit, your application will be incomplete).

Student Finances and Visas:

Students that plan to enroll as part of an F1 program must submit documentation to the International and Postdoctoral Services Office (IPSO) through the AU International system. We recommend that students start the application process and submit additional documentation for the Form I-20 at least 90 days prior to the start of their intended semester to allow sufficient processing time for both admissions and visa documents.

English Proficiency Requirement

IN ADDITION TO MEETING THE ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION, STUDENTS MUST ALSO PROVIDE PROOF OF ENGLISH PROFICIENCY.

For the purpose of applying for admission to Augusta University, English may be considered your primary language only if you have been raised in an environment where English is the ONLY official language of your locality and nation, and English has been the primary language used in your home.

Applicants must request that Augusta University receive official results from TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or IELTS - Academic (International English Language Testing System), if English is not your primary language.

Applicants whose primary language is not English may also meet the English proficiency requirement by any one of the options listed below.

The institution code for submission of the TOEFL scores to Augusta University is 5406. Please do not select a department code.

Freshman & Transfer Applicants to non-health science programs:

Students who state on their application for admission that their native language is other than English are required to take the TOEFL or IELTS as described above. Placement in the first semester English classes is based on the reading, listening and writing sections of the Internet-based TOEFL as follows:

  • A minimum score of 69 overall and 45 combined in the reading, listening and writing sections are required for consideration for admission to Augusta University.
  • Internet-based TOEFL greater than 78: Placement in English 1101.
  • Internet-based TOEFL of 45 to 78: Placement in English 1101Z, a special section of Freshman English for non-native speakers.
  • A minimum score of 6.5 overall  in the IELTS Academic test is required for consideration for admission to Augusta University.

Transfer Applicants seeking program admission to health science programs:

  • A score of at least 550 (paper-based) or 79 (internet-based) is required to be considered for most programs. Achievement of minimum scores does not guarantee admission.
  • 550 paper-based (PBT) for test takers who took the PBT prior to October 2017, and were scored on the old scoring scale of 310-677.
  • Complete courses equivalent to English Composition I and II at an accredited U.S. college or university and earn at least a 2.5 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) on the two courses, with neither grade below a "C".
  • Submit a score of at least 480 on the Evidence Based Reading and Writing section of the SAT or a score of at least 17 on the English portion of the ACT.
  • Submit proof of earning a baccalaureate degree from an accredited U.S. college or university at which English is the language of instruction.
  • No minimum for the revised paper-delivered test (PDT) taken on or after October 2017, and scored on the new scoring scale of 0-30 for each section (Listening, Reading and Writing).

* Exemption from the TOEFL requirement is allowed for undergraduate students who submit proof of earning a baccalaureate degree from an accredited U.S. college or university at which English is the language of instruction.
