Accreditation History

The Augusta University Master of Public Health (MPH) was approved by the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia in 2005, when the institution was known as the Medical College of Georgia. The program admitted its first student cohort in fall 2005 and was accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) in fall 2009 and reaccredited in 2014. In 2018, the maximum time allowed to complete the MPH program increased from four to five years to align with The Graduate School protocol. In September 2022, the MPH program transferred from the College of Allied Health Sciences to its new academic home in the Institute of Public and Preventive Health.

In December 2022, the MPH program was reaccredited for another seven-year term, with an interim report due in fall 2023. The current term expires on December 31, 2029. You can view our CEPH accreditation certificate. CEPH is an independent agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education to accredit both public health programs outside schools of public health as well as schools of public health.

Augusta University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), the regional accrediting agency for the Southern U.S. states. For additional questions related to the SACSCOC accreditation, please email ie@augusta.edu.
