The Bioethics certificate program is run through Dr. Wendy Turner on the Health Sciences campus. Only ONE of these Bioethics Courses will count for elective credit toward graduation, although additional courses can count towards your certificate in Bioethics.

Course Description: This course will provide bioethics graduate certificate candidates with a practical experience in performing scholarly work in bioethics. Under the guidance of the course director students will develop a research proposal, develop and conduct the project, analyze the data and make conclusions. The work should be of sufficient quality to be presented as a poster in a research competition or to be submitted for publication in a peer reviewed journal.

Course Description: This course will provide bioethics graduate certificate candidates the opportunity to present their completed research at a regional bioethics conference. Students will attend the two day annual Georgia Healthcare Ethics Consortium at Emory University in the spring of the academic year. They will go as attendees, and will present their completed research at the annual bioethics research poster competition.

Course Description: This course will provide bioethics graduate certificate candidates with a practical experience in learning and practicing bioethics. Students will read sentinel papers from the primary literature in bioethics, discuss clinical cases with ethical dilemmas in small groups, participate in ethics consults and end of life conversations with consultants and teach learned ethical topics to fellow students.
