Bike patrol and community policing

Studies have found that Bike Patrol teams improve community relations, provide cost savings, and offer faster officer response times. Augusta University Police features a Bike Patrol Unit for Officers who have been specially trained to assist the Augusta University Community.

Hiring Process

The steps to successfully join us!

  1. A comprehensive application for employment (including previous employment, references, current and prior addresses, education, military record)
  2. Physical Abilities Test (PAT)
  3. Review board or selection committee assessment
  4. Undergo a thorough background check which includes:
    1. Driving record review (Ga. Comp. R. & Regs. r. 375-3-8-.01)
    2. Personal and professional reference checks/interviews
    3. Review of information obtained from public internet sites
    4. Credit check/financial history consistent with the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) (15 USC § 1681 et seq.)
    5. Local, state, and federal criminal history record check
    6. Relevant national and state decertification records, if available
    7. Any relevant information in the National Law Enforcement Accountability Database
  5. Voice stress analyzer (CVSA) examination
  6. Medical examination, drug screen, and psychological examination
  7. Determination of employment eligibility, including U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS)
  8. After employment, successfully complete POST certification requirements for a sworn police officer in the State of Georgia.
