What is Academic Peer Coaching?
Academic Peer Coaching is a personalized support service that pairs you with a trained
peer who can help you build the skills and strategies needed for academic success
at Augusta University. Unlike tutoring, which focuses on course content, peer coaching focuses on how you learn.

While Peer Coaches can help you strengthen your study strategies and stay accountable, many students also ask us how to succeed in online and hybrid courses. These classes give you more flexibility, but they also require strong self-management skills. That’s where the Academic Success Center steps in with practical tips.
Create a Schedule – Treat your online class like an in-person course. Block out specific times each week to watch lectures, complete assignments, and review notes.
Stay Organized – Use a planner, calendar app, or to-do list to track deadlines and exams. Setting reminders helps you stay ahead.
Avoid Multitasking – Focus on one course or assignment at a time for better retention and efficiency.
Engage with the Class – Participate in discussion boards, reach out to your instructor, and connect with classmates to stay active in the learning community.
Set Up a Study Space – Designate a quiet, distraction-free area for coursework. A consistent study environment signals your brain that it’s time to focus.
Check Technology Early – Log in regularly, update your software, and test your internet connection before quizzes or exams.
Use Campus Resources – Don’t go it alone! Tutoring, Peer Coaching, and Academic Success Consultations are available to help you navigate challenges.
Remember: Online learning takes discipline—but with the right strategies and support, you can thrive.
