Jags4Jags: Augusta University creates one-stop shop to find or become a mentor
To help Augusta University students be more successful from the start, the university is launching a new initiative this fall in the Jags4Jags Mentoring Program.
The University System of Georgia’s (USG) African-American Male Initiative (AAMI®) is a system-wide initiative designed to increase the number of students who complete their postsecondary education from any USG institution. Its mission is to provide an integrated program model of academic, leadership and life skills that supports any participating student to successfully complete each academic level and graduate.

When Augusta University’s new Homecoming court sat down to reflect on their wins, they donned jeans, sweats, and sneakers, transforming from the glamour of the weekend back into regular college students.
“The opportunity to serve as the Chief Diversity Officer at this institution in this community will be much more than just employment. It will be my passion and purpose that will be exuded in the quality of my work," said Garrett Green, EdD.
The goal of the AAMI is to increase the number of African American males who complete postsecondary education at any of the University System of Georgia's 26 institutions.
