Most professional and allied health programs such as medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, physician assistant, and physical therapy require prerequisite courses in chemistry and physics.
A chemistry degree will allow you to develop the analytical and problem-solving skills that are universally sought after by graduate programs, professional schools, and employers. With the demand for scientifically literate college graduates being as strong as ever this indicates that a solid foundation in chemistry is a must to stay on the cutting edge of nearly any science or engineering field. Students in these programs will also have opportunities to participate in graduate and undergraduate research.

Creativity, Discovery, Engagement
Develop the analytical and problem-solving skills that are universally sought after by graduate and professional schools as well as by employers.
Put your math and science skills to use and get you into a graduate program to solidify the career path you want. Include concentrations in: Biochemistry, Forensic Science, Medicinal Chemistry, Nuclear Science, Teach Education.
Paired with a second major in biological science, social science or liberal arts, a BA in Chemistry can make you an attractive candidate for any number of graduate and professional programs.
There is also sufficient flexibility to explore a classic or specialized field of chemistry within the minor. If you continue in chemistry, only a few classes beyond the minor are needed to earn a BA in Chemistry as a second degree.
Gain interdisciplinary knowledge of the biochemical systems and responses to bioactive compounds at a physiological, cellular, and molecular level.

Pursuing Higher Education
Pre-Dental - Believes that a diverse student body enhances the educational opportunities for all students and is beneficial to the dental profession.
Pre-Engineering - Prepares students to transfer and succeed at many engineering programs throughout the state of Georgia and elsewhere.
Pre-Medical - Biochemistry I will be offered this summer in “term 2” (mid-May to late-June). Therefore you could take the class before the MCAT!
Pre-Pharmacy - Set of courses that must be completed prior to admission into a pharmacy program.
