Physiology, Exercise, Diet and Locomotion Lab

The Physiology, Exercise, Diet, And Locomotion Laboratory (PEDAL) was established to tackle research projects involving training methodologies, equipment, and diet's effects on mechanics and exercise performance.

Much of the laboratory's focus is on the role these variables play in endurance athletic performance, but student projects have explored anaerobic or resistance exercise as well. Intramural and extramural grant funding has allowed a group of students under Dr. Meyers to explore a wide variety of topics with researchers all over the globe.

Exercise Performance Lab

The Exercise Performance Laboratory was established to examine methods to improve various types of exercise performance such as rowing, cycling, and lifting. In addition, the laboratory contains equipment to measure body composition, blood pressure, flexibility, and other markers of overall health and fitness.

Equipment includes (but is not limited to):

  • Velotron Ergometer
  • Monark Ergometer
  • Precor Treadmill
  • Squat Rack and Dumbells
  • Cold Centrifuge
  • Rowers
  • YEI 3-Space Sensors
  • Health Assessment Equipment

Exercise Lab

Physiology Lab

The Physiology Lab has a range of equipment to measure body composition, blood health, aerobic and anaerobic fitness capacity, and cardiovascular health.

Equipment includes (but is not limited to):

  • Trackmaster Treadmill
  • Woodway Treadmill
  • Monark Ergometer
  • Parvo Medics Metabolic Carts
  • InBody Bioelectrical Impedance Analyzer
  • Microplate Reader
  • Cold Centrifuge
  • -20- and -80-degree Celsius Freezers
  • EMG
  • Actigraph Monitors
  • Calera Core Temperature Monitors
  • Watt Bike
